Pretty much every drainage had some flow and Boulder and La Barge were rivers. Starting from First Water TH doing the Marsh Valley Loop we headed down Second Water Trail. We could hear the rumble of Boulder Creek before we could see it. Really cool to see the creek running so strong but then realized we would have to cross many times to continue the loop. We decided to go ahead and take the plunge crossing about 12 times but none were more than knee deep if we crossed in the right spot. After following Boulder we made it to the Calvary Trail turnoff and headed over the pass into Marsh Valley. Here we got to see La Barge Creek and it was flowing just as strong. Continued up Marsh Valley and ended up having lunch at the south end of the valley along the creek.
After lunch we headed over upper Black Top Mesa Pass and back down into upper Boulder Creek. Here there were some nice sections of exposed rock with cascades and Weavers Needle for the backdrop. Eventually we got to West Boulder Creek heading towards Parker Pass which was also flowing very strong. Then up and over Parker Pass back to the trailhead. Great day in the Supes to see everything flowing like it was Colorado! |
