Rainy weekend so Monday I headed out to the Gila River, to an area that was busy hundreds of years ago. Apparently a major trade route from the Colorado River intersected the Gila near this spot.

Many, many glyphs along the basalt cliffs and boulders below. It was one of those days where I ran out of energy before I ran out of petroglyphs to find.

The day started cool but the humidity had me sweating after a while. Stopped on a hilltop to take off my long sleeves and got stung by a couple bees. Sheesh.

Slow work rock hopping the slopes below the edge but continuous finds kept it interesting. I decided to pack it in after some people below me started target shooting. Took the mesa top back...passed a worn path...maybe it goes to the Colorado.
