| no partners | | I had some email correspondence with a guy (Dave) who runs a nice rock art website and this turned into a trip to look around Agua Fria NM. The planned loop included a site that Mike and Ali hadn't been to before so they came along too.
Like most of Arizona, Perry Mesa is green and attractive right now, though the winter rains have made the minor roads quite a bit more challenging. Nonetheless we made it to the planned starting point and a breeze kept the walking comfortable all day.
We had a good day walking a loop connecting two significant petroglyph sites. There was plenty to see. With so many eyes the theme for the day was spotting very faint petroglyphs. These are mainly old ones with no visible patination - they appear with angled sunlight which reveals the texture on the rock.
Fun day for glyph nerds... |
