75deg forecast in Payson so another trip to Hardscrabble Mesa. I planned to walk new ground but pass by one interesting area I'd been to before.

A little ways above the "interesting area" I came across a bunch of bedrock metates. Below were a couple small pools in the satellite pictures but only one had water today. That pool had a couple faint petroglyphs.

I spent a little more time going down the drainage but didn't find anything else. Looped back dodging junipers on the ridge and passed by a few more faint glyphs and a couple concentrations of pottery pieces and flaked rock but no clear habitation sites.

Windy day! Blew my hat off a few times.
