As far as we could tell, there wasn't much of a trail nor any cairns. But, it was easy to see where we needed to go so we just picked the path of least resistance. There were some areas where we had to pay extra attention to our footing due to loose rocks, but the vegetation was mostly jojoba and grass (i.e. little cat's claw ). After reaching the saddle we headed south and to the east side of the northern end of the butte. About halfway up to the top we were thrilled to see 9 sheep. We took plenty of photos and even heard them, well, I'm not sure what you would call it. They made a sound that seemed like a cross between a cow's moo and a sheep's baaahhh. Anyway, they decided they'd had enough of the photo session and took off. We scrambled to the top and enjoyed the views. It was a beautiful day to be out with our friends. |
