Unshattered skeet in the mesquite bosque alluded to echoes later in the morning.

Made it through the mesquite pushing stuff aside with some crouching limbo. It's steep out of the ravine. The objective to the saddle is clear within minutes. About 2/3 of the way up I started noticing light pigweed-type strands. It seemed out of place but soon disappeared.

My pace was ultra slow so as not to fall. Getting closer to the saddle it got brushy and choked right/south of the ocotillo forest(in the ravine). On several occasions, I was thinking this was stupid. I kept telling myself that tibber and kingsnake did it for motivation =)

Above the saddle, it got grassy, then quickly transitioned to undesirable the rest of the way. Scattered orange wolfberries in one area were something I'd never seen.

Just when you start to really hate things, precarious cholla makes an appearance. I didn't get a photo but one low-to-the-ground variety appeared mutated. I gave it extra clearance in case it had a double whammy effect like Christmas Cholla.

9 am at the top of the 3,110-foot butte echoed beautiful sounds of motorcycles, ATVs, and relaxing semi-automatic gunfire wafting in the canyons. Only lasted an hour, amateurs. Little-known fact: Jingle Bells, Shotgun Shells was written on Roblas Butte.

Returning, the pepper smell of Lavender was refreshingly strong. Bees reminded me to lower my heart rate before a hint of fear surfaced(I couldn't casually walk away). No lazy circles but the crows above me playing rock paper scissors for the bounty of the visitor was duly noted. Near the saddle, I wanted to go fast like Ricky Bobby or crazy like BobP, so I stayed closer to the ravine on a use-trail. The hint of a trail heading down from the saddle was short-lived weaving through an abbreviated ocotillo forest.

As rocky as the bottom is I was able to walk down the bottom third, the only decent stride of the hike.
