I said the first time that we wanted to come back and do the trails to the north side of the park. We had previously done parts of the GoldMine trail, the San Tan trail and the Moonlight trail. This time we went NW on the Goldmine trail and joined the San Tan trail that climbs out of the valley up Goldmine Mountain. This is really a nice hike. Some uphill with lots of scree but generally a nice route with some excellent views of Phoenix to the north and East to the Superstitions. We were impressed at all the improvements that have made to the park. The trails are now signed and well marked and the walking is fairly easy on the flat areas even though very rocky on the climbs. There are about 8 miles of trails in the park and only just over a mile of that would constitute as a climb. One amazing thing is the extreme population growth south on Ellsworth through Queen Creek. Looks like soon the entire area will be houses. The traffic is horrible on Ellsworth but they are trying to widen the road. There are some very interesting views of the valley as you get to the top of Goldmine Mountain. Now we have completed this park. Good short workout. All was fine except for the 6 bucks to enter the place!!!
