| partners | | This was our second leg of the PCT that Bruce has mercifully dissected into three doable sections. Joe picks the direction that works best for him. With the threat of a whine like an injured rabbit we abide by his wishes. The shuttle set up went smoothly due to the early start, I believe. We were hiking by 7:30 with a nice cool temp. I concur with Joe that the section around the Goldwater Lakes is primo. Although I thought this whole section of the PCT was enjoyable. Bruce added in a short side trip to the top of Wolverton Mountain. Nice little mountain with views and a bench to sit on for lunch. The name of the mountain had me singing an ol country song from back in the 60's. The song was about a man named Clifton Clowers and someone trying to court his daughter. The man really did exist, lived to be 102, and is buried on a Wolverton mountain in Arkansas. Real spelling Woolverton. We were not the only ones to enjoy the PCT this fine day. I counted 27 other hikers, 19 mountain bikers, 11 dogs, and 5 deer. I didn't count the birds, squirrels, lizards and such . All and All a great day on the trail. I did have a sore knee and foot but that's on me . Bruce had to be home by a certain time so he headed home while Joe and I grabbed a bite to eat. Good times. Thanks my friends, |
