Weather this weekend looked about perfect for a visit to Hellsgate, so I went for it. Cruised on up to the ridgeline and enjoyed the views before the trails dips back down. Tonto was running clear and spring leaves have started to pop. I followed Haigler downstream briefly, then upstream for a little longer. This was done by walking through the creek and pushing through brush along the shores. I climbed a cliff wall and found a spot for lunch. Taking advantage of the overcast, I got moving shortly after and started the trek back to the TH. On my way out, I met a new haz member out for a solo overnighter. Made the stroll back to the TH under cloudy skies and a nice breeze. Saw a garter snake and had a close encounter with a hawk.
