I decided to head to the Hellsgate Wilderness today and hike down to Hellsgate -- this was the 5th or 6th time that I have done this hike.

There was more water in Salt Lick Canyon than I have seen in the past -- without waterproof footwear you'll get your socks and feet wet in some of the numerous creek crossings in this canyon.

Not surprisingly, there was lots of water flowing in Hellsgate at the confluence of Tonto Creek and Haigler Creek. It was a nice place to stop for lunch before making the climb back out.

I did not see anyone on the hike today, which wasn't too surprising for a weekday.

This is not an easy out-and-back hike -- about 70% of the elevation gain is on the way back.

I saw some phlox, wiry lotus, and manzanita blooming; but that was about it. It is a bit early for flowers in this area.
