| no partners | | It has been a few years since I have been up here. I miss the old lookout and the leaning over outhouse. The views are quite awesome though, and in stormy weather can't be beat down here IMO. The trail seemed more beaten in and open than I remember; however I had not hiked this since it burned over a few years back. It was windy at times and cool, and had to don the rain poncho for a few minutes here and there.
Drove the loop as I like to do. Had a few scary moments driving down on I-19 in heavy rain, a wrong way driver. He got off and fortunately turned around.
Water run off evident, with muddy puddles of varying depth between Ruby and Arivaca. The pavement drive is really fun after a rain due to all the washes the curvy dippy road crosses. Fair amount of water and debris on the road in some places.
The clouds, the light, and the coolness were just wonderful. The rain, just awesome. Can't wait to return down here in mid- late August, early Sept if we have had a good monsoon. It'll be green like Ireland and there will be water everywhere.
Drove by the area where the border patrol agent was wounded earlier this week. I've been in that canyon but don't recall seeing any particular sign. Saw one agent in his truck on the loop, and no other traffic on the dirt. |
