| no partners | | I was looking for a hike close to home today that hopefully would not be crowded, so I headed to the Golden Eagle TH, which is only 8 minutes from my house. From there I hiked up to Bell Pass, and turned around and came back to the TH.
I saw a gila monster on the Prospector Trail; it was only the second gila monster that I have seen while hiking.
Wildflowers are still putting on a show, which made for an enjoyable hike. The weather was nice, but it was 74 when I got back to the TH, which is getting a bit warm for me, especially on a cloudless day. |

Wildflowers Observation Substantial Wildflowers are still putting on a good show -- on this hike the lupine stole the show. There is still a good bit of brittlebush, although some of it has faded. Owl clover, poppies, strawberry hedgehog, and orange mariposa lily were nice to look at in various places. |
