| no partners | | Took the kids out for a quick morning hike. Pleasantly cool early in the morning, so close to the water, and the bugs weren't as bad as they could have been. First half mile of trail had some low branches that are annoying to duck under while carrying a kid on the back (at least I got to practice my squats), then things open up and there are some great views. Boys had fun tossing rocks in and I got to show them the difference between kayakers, paddle boarders, and motorboats, the latter of which tended to blare annoying music over the water. We turned around under two miles in, boys were pretty tired already, and there was no good spot to let the 18-month-old down, so she just stayed in the carrier the whole time (and was pretty restless near the end). The way back was pretty boring, next time we may try to go off-trail and close the loop.
Saw two other groups hiking the trail, otherwise it seemed like the main users were fisherfolk. Also, as others have mentioned, there's a lot of trash along the banks. |
