The creek hiking was slow but not to bad. There were only a few areas were we had to exit the creek to get around some larger pools. There was a nice flow of water in multiple areas including Doggie Spring. Once we got close to Cedar Basin we looked for the best route up and out of the creek which worked out pretty well (helps being familiar with the area). Once we had a view into the basin we located the coral and headed down to it were we enjoyed lunch at the nearby cowboy camp, along with a couple hundred hungry gnats. The hiking down Cedar Basin Canyon was actually easier than the hiking up Tortilla Creek but we were both glad to have our boots on the Hoolie-Bacon Trail as the rock hopping was taking its toll. Great hike in IMO one the the best areas in the Superstition Wilderness. |
