| no partners | | Took the family out for a post Thanksgiving turkey burner hike. I saw that a new trail has been built in the Hawes Pass area, which is very near my house. We parked at the Granite Reef lot and took the Granite and Saguaro Trails to the Horse Tale and then went out and back on that. The Horse Tale Trail seems likes it's been built by mountain bikers and not the Forest Service. It's narrower and very windy and convoluted. The views are mostly just of Red Mt., the Salt River, and some views to the north of the Mazzies, Four Peaks and Ord.
Most of the hikers we saw were near the junction of the MT., which connects to the nearby lot on the Bush Hwy. Saw a few bikers, but not too many.
Had a really good lunch at Jalapeno Buck's on Val Vista and the 202, running into our next door neighbor there. |
