| no partners | | After the first day at the work conference, I wanted to get some exercise in and the Little America hiking trails are just out back. I've done these trails previously and know that they connect to some of Flagstaff's urban trails. I also have a NatGeo map that shows a spur of the AZT going up near there. I'm not sure that the map is accurate in the regard of that being an official part of the AZT.
I headed to the southern part of the loops looking for the trails that headed towards the AZT. Just south of the loops is what appears to be a meadow. Upon looking at the maps after the hike, it looks like this is actually a section of the Rio de Flag. I walked a short portion of a Flagstaff urban trail, but it was going north and I wanted to go south. So I headed south and followed what were roads on the offline mapping that aren't really there anymore. I ended up crossing the Rio de Flag and over on a old road/bike trail and headed south. Followed those roads down to Hoffman Tank, went east a little further and then headed back since it was getting late. Took a section of Loop B on the Little America trails on the way back. Nice to get out and explore a little more and take advantage of the situation. |
