I had originally planned to take the whole family out, but my wife had makeup lessons to do and my daughter had a school function, so it was just Dmitri and I. The Go John-Overton Loop looked like a good hike that wasn't too long. I decided to add in the Clay Mine Trail and a couple more spurs to add some mileage.
The weather was much cooler, which was helped by the clouds. There were some breezes here and there that helped more in keeping things cool.
At the end of the Clay Mine Trail, there was an unmapped trail that looks like it might be an older alignment of the Clay Mine Trail. Saw a tip of a snake tail along the Clay Mine Trail on the way back.
Saw a few other hikers and about 3 bikers. A group of horse riders were making their way out after we hiked the spur trail to the horse corral, but they never caught up to us.
Dmitri did well, kept up the pace much better than the day after Thanksgiving and wasn't too sore afterwards.
