| no partners | | Quick loop Saturday morning. Myself, Jamie Compos and Doug Nering.
Lots of birds out on these trails. Some some rabbits and butterflies for wildlife.
Mesquite trail had good bit of human activity going on when we started around 8am including a ranger led hike doing this same loop but going in the opposite direction.
By the time we passed the Willow Canyon cutoff we were pretty much alone and that was very nice.
This loop would also make decent corridor training for any newbies looking to hike grand canyon. Not sure why my mind goes straight to that.
I especially enjoyed the Ford Canyon sections, I hadn't done this loop before and was pleasantly surprised to spend so much time in the wash and then over smooth granite it was absolutely beautiful.
Lots of Mexican gold poppies out this weekend too.
Trail conditions were great, smooth. Those trails are well maintained and that makes them an easy "trek" for anyone in the family that's up to the mileage.
Ford Canyon had some "steep" footing which were fine for us but I could see it presenting a challenge for those folks who aren't use to walking off pavement.
The white tanks had water and tadpoles.
