My kids were 4 and 6 the last time we hiked this together, and they don't even remember it. We got a semi-early start at about 9:30am. the crowds had started, but they would get worse as we progressed. Mostly families and out of towners checking out the petroglyphs.
It was sunny but cold when we started. The kids were quiet, likely from a combo of the cold weather and the early hour.
On our way back down, I noticed a trail below that gained elevation and headed up towards a saddle. It was within the wilderness boundary so it doesn't seem to be part of the lower bike trail system.
Got back to a packed parking lot and grey skies, with darker skies looming to the north.
Last hike of the year, finished with my highest mileage total, just over 460.
