I started at the north end of the Scorpion Trail off the Bush Highway and headed south. Then I took a trail I'm not sure of over to the High Horse Trail and then looped back on the the parallel trail to the north. Once I got back to the Scorpion Trail, I only had 6.5 miles, so I headed south again to the Maricopa Trail and made a quick loop back to the Scorpion Trail again and then back to the car. Over at the Maricopa Trail I ran into hiderdw and talked to him for a bit. Nice to meet a new HAZ member in person.
I wasn't expecting much, but this area was very nice. Lots of nice views of Red Mountain, Four Peaks, and the McDowells. it was chilly for the first half mile, but warmed quickly once the sun made it over the horizon. The air was very clear and temperature remained mild. Saw just as many hikers as bikers, and more horses than either.
