Originally was gonna head to the Jacks Canyon Area near Apache Maid Mountain but the road was closed at the Stoneman lake rd intersection. The Rattlesnake Quiet Area was our next option and the goal was to get to Rattlesnake Canyon. We did and it was gorgeous! All the snowmelt had this canyon flowing quite strongly and it was a beautiful sight to see. Flowing water, 60 degree temps, and wildlife had us thinking we were in heaven. Hoped we might stumble into some sheds and we did, found our first elk shed of the year!
Think this place has earned a return trip!
Stoneman lake rd btw appears to have gotten some love, it was so much smoother than the few times we drove on it last year. (At least up to the Stoneman Lake Overlook) |
