First place was a no go: private property, but the second one worked out fine. My plan was to walk along the sandy flood plain next to the basalt edge (looking for petroglyphs and whatever) and return along the top on the "basalt plain". It was nice walking: the sand was hard and lots of space between the bushes. I looked for quite a while before finding the first petroglyph and they were mainly concentrated at one point on the eastern edge of the loop. Highlight of the day was a big interesting geoglyph on top, just above those glyphs.
The petroglyphs looked quite different from the spectacular ones at nearby Sears Point and Quail Point and not sure what the geoglyph was supposed to be, but it looked like part of a wheel with some spokes including unusually fine ones. Found enough and a nice day. |
