Ever since the flow from the Phoenix area made it down to Painted Rock Reservoir, then releases were made from there, it was fun keeping track of the flow and wondering if it would make it to the Colorado River at Yuma. It did! I stopped at the US 95 crossing, as well as the historic older crossing at the McPhaul Suspension Bridge nearby. Solid flow at those places, which are just a few miles from the Colorado confluence. Very cool to see this!
I was on my way to California, and after this stop it was on to Bombay Beach for a visit, then down to the Red Hill volcanic/geothermal area, before heading on to Borrego Springs to check into my two nights lodging at a motel there. I wanted to get there by around 6 PM, so I had left Tucson about 0530. All went as planned and I arrived in Borrego Springs by about 6 o'clock. I was tired, I was hungry, but I was happy! After getting set up at the motel, it was off to Carmelita's Mexican Grill for dinner. It was a good day indeed! |
