| no partners | | I had a couple places I wanted to see on the slopes east of Lake Roosevelt. Didn't know what to expect from the roads but they turned out to be fine.
The first ruin is one labeled on the topo map. It sits on top of a low mound. Pretty big - I'm guessing 20 rooms. I didn't see any pottery at all there. Maybe archaeologists have picked up most of it and the grass/foxtail was hiding anything they missed.
I drove near a second site that I'd heard about. It's at a pretty impressive location overlooking a major creek but it was also overgrown and looked like it had been dug up a lot. Though I'd been told there was a lot of pottery there, I didn't see much - partially the overgrowth but also I didn't look too hard on this hot day.
Finished by completing the drive out the east side dirt road. The sign said 28 miles from Rt288 on the south to Rt188 on the north - probably doable in a passenger car. |
