In Sedona I went to buy a Red Rock Pass and was told that it was National Get Outdoors Day and that pass fees were waived for the day. How nice. Arrived at the small trailhead located on 89A just west of the Y a little before 7 and got underway shortly thereafter. The trail winds it way through scrub and larger trees So shade is available throughout. It is even with some areas of rockiness. It also has some up and down no problem for the average hiker. Between that and the warm morning I realized that I did not have a 4 mile round trip in me today. So I set my alarm for 2 hours after I started as my turnaround time. There were nice views of the surrounding area to be had from time to time. It was a very quiet morning with the occasional bike riders and hikers making an appearance. This was a good introductory trail to the area, easy to find thought the small parking area makes an early arrival a necessity. |
