| partners | | Went back up to Brown's Ranch TH to hike some new sections of trails I noticed that I didn't hike before. The Broken Spoke has a new section on the west end of it, and there's also a new section of the Chuckwagon Trail just east of Brown's Ranch Road that I hadn't noticed before. I saw that I could incorporate both sections into one 10+ mile hike, so that looked like the way to go.
Brian joined me for this hike, but just for the first 3 miles, then he wanted to hike the Stagecoach Trail that he was supposed to hike with me 2 months ago but got sidetracked on. Those 3 miles went by like nothing. Felt more like barely 2 miles. Talking while you're hiking makes the time and effort go by fast.
My loop started with the southern section of the Chuckwagon Trail, then Watershed, Cholla Loop, Dry Gulch, Broken Spoke, West Express, Basalt Ridge, and Upper Ranch. Nothing special or crazy of note happened. More hikers and bikers encountered as I got closer to the trailhead, as expected. Weather stayed cool the whole time. Slight cloud cover helped with sun protection, but I still put up my hood for the 2nd half of the hike as a precaution. |
