| no partners | | Finally got into the Sawtooths. I wanted to do the high point(2630) and another peak(2614). When we parked we noticed cairns right away which was very curious since I didn't think the Sawtooths were visited much. We followed the carins since they appeared to go the way we wanted - to 2614. Many of the cairns were painted white. When we got to the cliffy part of the approach there were white arrows painted on rocks along with arrows for three different routes. I took route 1 and Mark took route 2. There were a fair number of signins in the register - along with a register placed on a subpeak right near 2614.
We headed down and made our way to the highpoint 2630. Once we got close, we caught up with more arrows painted on the rock. We followed the arrows to a minor peak near 2630 and another register. We backtracked since going straight to 2630 looked pretty sketch to me. On the final approach to 2630 there is a cool natural arch - after that the climbing got serious - class 3 or even 4 with tons of exposure. Mark deciced to stop at this point and I continued up to the peak.
I was shocked by the amount of arrows here. I can't believe someone put in the effort to add so much graffiti. I'm uploading pics that show the arrows etc. |
