This took longer than I expected. Off the cuff, I figured around 8 to 9 miles, not 11. I might have started earlier if I had known...
The goal was to find 4 geocaches out this way that I've been ignoring were placed since my last visit. Goal achieved.
Parked a bit off New River Road and basically headed northwest along old and rough dirt roads until they ran out, then I went cross country. Easy going until there were no roads, then the cross country was slow due picking my way through wonderful fields of cholla. Oh, the ground was rocky too. I also had to dodge some ravines that got in the way.
Saw a spot where all the saguaros were red. Thought they might have been imported from Sedona Red Rock country until I realized they were covered with slurry from some fire fighting. I have no idea when that may have occurred. They were just north of 3.5 miles out.
Took a slightly different route on the return to travel some roads I didn't use on the way out. That worked out better than the cross country.
