| no partners | | | 1-night backpack in Superstitions. All the washes and creeks were flowing (no need to carry water at this point; but able to keep dry crossing). Weather was great and scenery was fantastic. Saw what the Woodbury fire did to a small section of the Dutchman trail to the north of the intersection with the Whiskey Spring trail. Saw the fire impact for about 1/2 mile or so. Forgot to stop and see the Giant Saguaro (will need to do that next trip). Lots of possible campsites to choose from in the Charlebois Spring area and west to the Cavalry trail intersection ... But decided against this (in part due to the abandon camp site which had a rusted garden shears laying on top of it ... Friday the 13th Movie sort of thing) ... see photo. Anyhow, ended up camping along Needle Canyon ... a wonderful night in the Superstitions. In the morning tackled the climb up to the Terrapin Pass and on to the Bluff Spring trail and back to trailhead. Will need to get one more of these 1-night-trips in before it warms up. |
