Trail to the arch was pleasant and mostly shaded, which was appreciated on this hot July afternoon. Just a handful of people on the trail this day. The arch and the surrounding red rocks were quite beautiful and well worth the less than two mile hike. I found the path up to the arch, which was well hidden and overgrown with shrubs. The arch itself looked very sturdy, but the drop (six feet or so) onto it was smooth and well weathered. Rather than taking a chance of falling to my death (bummer of a way to end a good day hiking), I instead just took some pictures and then made my way down. Thought about hitting the Devil's Bridge next, but my aching legs told me otherwise. Headed back to Phoenix through Cottonwood avoiding the nightmare of road construction that is happening in Sedona. Great easy hike recommended for all. |
