Autumn Foliage Observation Substantial
I took 2 hikes from See Canyon TH. Foliage in the parking lot area is good but still pre peak. First hike went east on Highline. The first wash crossing after 15 minutes was still green. After 25 more minutes, you cross the second wash and enter the bottom of what should be call Foliage Canyon. The bottom was pre but with color, midway up had tons of color but still pre. Almost at the end of the maple / oak section of the canyon was full on Peak, and when you cross the next wash, the leaves were all brown and past peak. If one can find the old trail (hidden by FS with logs etc) it stays in the canyon bottom following the wash and color is EXTREME. I will upload a route for the old trail. Otherwise, as you go up the canyon, about 100' before the first switch back, look for a trail covered with logs that heads down to the wash. That is the old original trail and follows the wash up and rejoins the trail further up. I also did See Canyon Trail, except for a nice group of maples 2 minutes from the Highline Intersection and then again right after crossing the See Spring creek, there is little color and all very pre... Pics to follow...
