This was a canal used by early settlers based on an original system set up by the Hohokam people many moons ago. I feel like the City missed some opportunity here. While decently preserved in the middle of the city, doesn't seem like its managed that well. Its small, there was a couple signs to stay on trails but not really any marked trails. There are a several random trails wandering around the park and a service road. All the signs about the history of the place are back in the parking lot. There is a cool old building in the middle of the park, but not any info about it. I was also here on a Sunday around 9am and there were several "random dudes" hanging out in spots throughout the park. Some were just sitting in their cars in the parking lot. I realize I was a random dude in the park as well, but I was the only one hiking around and taking pictures. I did manage a picture of what may be some of the other reaction that may be going on here. |
