| no partners | | Another one of my how to spend a half day in Sedona. Plan was to head out on FR 152 a.k.a. Dry Creek road a.k.a. Vultee arch road... you know the one. I have been out here many times and this time I was going to check out the Van Deren Cabin, that was my main goal. The road is no longer maintained and that's what makes it fun. Lots of foot traffic up to Devil's Bridge, I knew that, but this was a "slow" day, must be nuts on the weekend. I also find this a bit odd. I am pretty sure their is a connector from the parking area to Chuck Wagon that will take you right to Devil's Bridge, but I guess people prefer to hike the road. I don't mind, but you do get a few odd looks from people. Once I passed Devil's Bridge, the only people I saw were on a jeep tour. When you turn off 152 onto FR9917 the trail does step it up a notch. This short section is for sure a 4wd/high clearance section. Cabin is nice, and there are great views from up there. I tried to pretend that there wasn't a golf course a short distance away. Also on my way out a fellow on an electric unicycle passed me!
