The Supes are alive with the sound of Music...Music Mountain that is!

I was looking to bag one more peak before the end of the year, and I saw a Music Mountain triplog from @hikerdw a week or so ago, so I decided that Music Mountain would be the one.

I parked and began the hike at the 2WD Tortilla TH, on FR 213 just off of Apache Trail. I thought about driving to the 4WD TH, which would have saved about 3 miles of road hiking each way. The road is a bit iffy for about 1,000 feet, but if you can make it that far you can get to the TH. You would definitely need a high clearance 4WD vehicle for FR213. I saw a Jeep Rubicon at the 4WD TH -- it had some beefy tires but looked to be a stock vehicle in terms of clearance.

I hiked about 3 miles on FR 213; 3 miles on Peters Trail #105, and then off-trail to the summit by following @hikerdw 's route.

I did not mind hiking on FR 213 in the morning. I had never been to this area so I enjoyed the scenery. In the first mile or so on the Peters Trail I was mostly in a wash; thereafter I was on the trail. The trail was a bit overgrown and I occasionally got snagged by some catclaw, but it wasn't too bad. The trail was faint in places and there weren't many cairns, and in many places I just followed footprints left by hikers who came before me.

The off-trail wasn't bad at all -- most of it was through open desert where I had to go around catclaw as best I could. I was mostly successful, although I got snagged a few times. The climb up to the summit was a little steep but wasn't bad going up or down. It was easier than some other peak hikes that I have done lately.

The summit was a broad flattish area -- it had all been burned by the Woodbury Fire of June, 2019. There is a lot of regrowth, but still a lot of dead stuff remains. There were great views at the summit of the surrounding area.

I went back the same way that I came. Thankfully it was a cool day, or the hike back on FR 213 could have been a slog.

While this hike won't make my top 10 list, I enjoyed the hike and it was nice to bag a new peak and to be on some trails that I had not been on before.
