| no partners | | With the Bush Fire Closure Order being rescinded as of this morning, I decided to hike up to Mount Ord and check out some of the fire damage on the trail. I was the only person at the TH, so I guess that I was the first person to legally hike up to Mount Ord since mid-June of last year.
The fire damage was severe almost all the way up on FR 27. It looked like FR 626 was the firefighters line in the sand, as I did see any fire damage north and east of FR 626. There was a bit of damage on the west side of FR 626 for a short distance past FR 27.
There is still some snow in FR 626, and it was almost all snow once I got past the gate that is about 3/4 mile from the summit. I put my microspikes in the truck, but forgot to put them in my backpack...go figure...I would liked to have had them for the stretch past the gate.
It was a nice day to be out hiking. I banged up my ribs on a hike last weekend, so I was going slower than normal. It was nice to back on the trails though! |
