Skull Mesa Highpoint

Didn't have a hike idea this week so decided on Skull Mesa since it's been a while. Added in the hike to the highpoint recently posted by @DixieFlyer.

Nice hike, but got warm on the Mesa for a January day.

The climb up Skull Mesa was easier and shorter than I remembered.

The off-trail portion to the highpoint really wasn't worth the effort, better to stay on the trail most of the way and take the shortest angle approach.

Surprisingly only saw one other hiker the entire day outside the Spur Cross circle.

Driving out we came up on a recent car/motorcycle accident. Stopped to see if they needed any help but none was needed, just waiting for emergency folks. The bike rider was on the ground but talking on the phone so hopefully all turned out OK. Sheriff and ambulance seen driving in before we reached Cave Creek Road.
