It’s been a long time since I have been up on Skull Mesa, (December 15, 2014 to be exact). The last time I did it was during a backpack out there with the dog. I think the last visit felt like less of a slog than today. The trails were in excellent shape all the way to the mesa. We walked around some on top and explored the area a little more thoroughly than the last time I had been up there. After nearly two miles of walking around on the mesa, we headed back down and returned the way we hiked in. I enjoyed getting out to stretch my legs some, after being cooped up for a bit, but I think I will try the more direct route up Mariposa Hill next time. A nice light flow in Cave Creek. Dry crossings were possible with rock hopping.
