| no partners | | i really wanted to do the loop that rcorfman had a route for, but apparently the southern part of that loop has been sectioned off since he did it last- in case you were wondering about my little spur on my route. southpawaz also talked about doing it that way and i actually did it with him way back when. anyway, i was bummed, because i didn't want the 17-mile loop, i wanted the 12-mile loop and i didn't get either. i got an out and back. i had somehow conveniently forgotten about all the water crossings - so i ended up with blisters walking with wet shoes and socks. it was worth every minute of it though. i'm getting into my groove and i love it. i love when you can hike for an hour and see no one, hear no one, etc. you know it's a slow trail when no hikers pass me going up (there were about 20 cyclists though, but most were in a group and courteous). it was really nice to do a long hike again. it had been a while. if i had remembered the water crossings, i would've remembered the waterproof boots. oh, on this day, there were a bunch of trail runners doing a 50-mile run around these parts, that was on my way down, and it was easy in those places for me to step off and let them pass. |
