Started hiking just before first light. Witnessed a coyote kill about a mile in. Heard a rush and a squeal nearby. Then a flurry of vicious activity. I couldn't see much in the low light. Thought it was a coyote chasing and catching a rabbit or maybe two javelinas fighting. Within a couple seconds two coyotes came flying in to the melee with more squeals, so I'm pretty sure there was a rabbit involved.
Only saw e few people once I got up on the National. Very busy going down Bursera back to the trailhead. Cars were lined up on Chandler Blvd almost to 17th Ave.
Saw Warren from work and his grown up puppy as they were going up Bursera. Beautiful day to get out and hike. :)
