I was sideways, using literally every rock crawling function my vehicle has to offer after getting a bit stuck on some rocks. There were also some pretty deep water crossings that were questionable (but sooo fun to drive through! ). We did finally make it ALL the way to the TH without damaging Tessa (well, she got more pinstripes for sure!). I couldn’t drive faster than 5 mph so it’s honestly probably better to just walk it at that point. The trail was nice, well defined with several cairns & no bushwhacking and that was pretty sweet! There’s a lot of interesting rock formations on either side of the trail and it’s very pleasant, easy walking downhill to the creek. We explored around the creek a bit and visited the spring as well. The water was flowing and clear, although much lower than other pics I’ve seen here. We hiked until the junction & then headed back the way we came. We were limited on time since we were hammocking & relaxing at camp in the morning, plus it took forever getting down the road, otherwise we would have continued to the larger swimming pool. Will need to revisit that one! Also should note there were a ton of fresh feline prints in the sand near water. We sadly did not see any bears. It’s a really nice wilderness area that I’d like to research a bit more and see what else it has to offer. Extremely peaceful out there without people though! |
