That little drive into Broken Arrow TH is a tad rough. We headed on out to find the Submarine. I hadn't been on the Submarine since May 22, 2016 with Kelly when we did the Twin Buttes Loop. The trail takes you through typical Sedona landscape including on large areas of bedrock. The local flora seemed fairly healthy except for the occasional dead trees/dried bushes we've seen while here. We were wondering if frost and/or bugs has caused this.
On our way to the Sub we only ran into a hiker with her young dog, otherwise no other hikers/nor bike riders along this hike. We made our way to nearly the back of the Sub and boarded. Other jeep passengers were also aboard as we walked around. The views from here are quite nice of course so we soaked that all in as we made our way NW on the Sub. I got this one picture from one end as Ambika walked toward me and she looks like a little spec; that's how big this Sub is .
We got our fill and headed back to the TH while it was still light out. The jeepers were still out and about too altho we wouldn't see them on our trip back to the TH. We saw some hikers above us; assume they were doing the Hogs. There is also this white spot that I could see from the Hyatt that I zoomed in for a photo. Can't tell what it is; looks like it's been painted. This was a nice little hike.
Back at the Hyatt, from our balcony we not so patiently waited for the moon to come up behind the ridge directly in front of us. It took its sweet time and was pretty amazing. Neither of our phone cameras could really capture the scene correctly though so that was disappointing. |

Wildflowers Observation Isolated lots of Juniper berries, some cactus blooms and ragwort. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
