Wanted to do a double to practice elevation. I started from just below the north Ramada and made it to the top in 22 minutes (just to give me something to compare with). It was a bit warmish. LOTS of people and dogs. Took the road all the way to the bottom, with that last little bit at the bottom being quite steep but short. Touched the gate and headed up again. Saw another person walking backward on the little bit that goes north south so I "monkey saw, monkey did". I actually did better than I thot I would at maintaining a fairly straight line and not running into anyone, ha!

The breeze definitely picked up as I waited for me to start losing steam on my way back up to the top but I maintained. I passed by an elderly woman that was walking with her trekking poles altho she didn't really seem to be using them except for balance. Another man ran by me like the breeze, it was a joy to watch as he was light on his feet. Just before reaching the top a couple filmed themselves racing up; should be a cute video. I told them about the older lady that was now coming toward us and she said she was 87 :o . Oh Lord, please let me be able to hike North Mountain at 87. Hell, I'll be happy to still be hiking it by the time I'm 70.

I continued my way down with still lots of people and dogs coming and going. I hiked to where the road meets up with the trail that goes north to the VC and then back-walked partially up the hill, turned and exited down to the parking area. Still felt pretty good; I think that breeze during the second lap made all the difference too. Anyway, good morning for me.

Out of curiosity I weighed myself before I left and when I got back; I dropped almost two lbs. I'm going to have to do that more often to see. WATCH: 3.71 miles. 134 avg bpm, 161 max. (Zones: 48.3% in 5, 13.6% in 4 anaerobic, 32.3% in 3 aerobic and 4.7% in 2 weight control) burning 583 calories. Temp at start 73.3 with 33% humidity finishing at 8:37AM

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
