I started in ranch land and went down a steep hill into red-rock country. Very nice walking in the washes and the low hills and buttes and there's plenty of ancient cultural signs. Low stacked stone walls are almost everywhere and I passed 4 or 5 impressive "Wupatki-like" structures. The preservation of these is much better than that of ones of similar age built in central AZ that I'm used to seeing. Probably the nice flat rock lends itself to better and sturdier construction. Good day! |
