| no partners | | I figured out a walk I could do in cinder country that had a few worthwhile destinations (satellite view) and minimal overlap with previous trips.
The primitive approach roads can be iffy, though usually OK for my Subaru. But today's road went down a steepish loose cinder track, with curves, which made me a little worried about whether I could get back up. This occurred to me when I got to the bottom.
As usual there was pottery on the ground within arms reach of my parking spot and it was a short walk to the first site which was surrounded by pottery. That was the theme of the day: ruins all over the place and interesting pottery everywhere. Every site I'd spotted in the satellite view and marked "maybe" was indeed a ruin, and there were quite a few unexpected small sites in between.
I had several contingency plans for getting my car up the hill but in the end, no problem. Nice to get out of town and even the hour delay getting past the wreck below Sunset Point didn't bother me. |
