| no partners | | | This was my second Grand Canyon Bright Angel trip this month and this day was much cooler than my previous hike. I decided to take it a little further this time going all the way to the river instead of turning around at Indian Gardens. That extra few miles felt more like an extra ten when I started the return climb but was worth it! I left the previous night expecting to car camp somewhere near the park entrance, but all of the free camping and forest service roads were blocked due to the Kaibab forest closure. I ended up making it into Tusayan a little past midnight but had to turn around searching for a rest area to get some much needed sleep. The next morning was perfect, slight overcast and nice cool 73 degrees. The bright angel trail was fairly empty vs the previous time I had done this trail. The trip down was very smooth and quick since I wasn’t behind the morning mule train. This was my first time to the river and it was awesome it really was a motivator to plan a rim to rim hike soon. I pretty much had the entire area to myself besides a few other hikers. Overall an awesome trip and great warm up for a Rim to Rim hike. If you are planning to do this hike I highly recommend it and going all the way to the river. |
