| partners | | Chris and I got started from the Deer Creek trailhead around 0730. First mile was easy. Next couple of miles were very steep. Several small stops to breathe and enjoy the views. Once past the steepest parts, the incline moderated, and it was a nice hike uphill. Some snow on the upper part of the trail, and the soil was frozen for roughly the top two miles. Breezy and cool, but it felt nice. Walked past the end of the trail up to the road, passing a few nice campsites.
Downhill was pretty easy. The steep part had some loose rock, but not as bad as I thought it might be. Warm by the time we finished. Saw one squirrel, some deer tracks, and tons of coyote scat. Only one other hiker and his dog, a red heeler. I’d never been on Gold Ridge Trail before, so it was nice to see. |
