It’s been many moons since I last hiked in See Canyon. After seeing some other folks posting their visits to this cool canyon, we decided to do a little leaf-peeping as well. I knew Sedona and Oak Creek would be a zoo and so would Horton Creek, so this one was it. The lovely Mrs Dilling and I set out early from Mesa and arrived at the trailhead about sunrise.

We were treated to a beautiful pre-sunrise color show while driving up to the trailhead. When we arrived, there were a couple vehicle already there and the thermometer in the truck read 37 degrees. My kind of weather!

Lynne’s knees were really bothering her, so after a quick visit to the creek, she went back to the truck and took a nap. I started at the creek near the fence and basically hiked up a couple miles. I stayed off the trail for the most part.
The colors were really nice along the creek for sure. The further up I went, the less the colors were, so after seeing more leafless trees and mostly pines, I opted to turn around and follow the creek back down. I have never been in here for the fall colors and I was not disappointed. A very awesome display.

Christopher Creek has had some water move through there recently. Lot of signs of big flows along the banks and the number of trees that have fallen across the creek was way more than I remember from the last time.

I saw only one other hiker move by while I was standing in and around the creek, but the little parking lot was full when I returned a couple hours later.

Lynne got her nap and actually had 5G with 3 bars at the trailhead and was watching a movie.

We departed but opted to make a loop out of our return to Mesa by driving up the 260 to FS300. We took that all the way to the 77 and went back down via Strawberry and Pine. Always nice to see the views from the Rim for sure.

A great day up north for sure.
