| no partners | | Back to this fun little hike. I had some free time after working a little in the morning.
Lots of vehicles in the lot when I arrived, and I started out amongst a “pack” of hikers going up the same 3004 Loop Trail. I managed to pass them and made my way to the Bulldog Saddle.
The path heading from the saddle seems to be more worn than the last time. The trail was easy to follow until you hit the tuff area below the peak. But, it was easy enough to figure out which way to go up. I did forget how steep this one is. You gain a bunch of elevation from the saddle.
The views up top were amazing as always. You get the Superstitions, Four Peaks, Pass Mountain, Red Mountain, EJ Peak/Lone Mountain, but the draw is the line of Goldfield Mountains/ridges that really makes this one nice. The view the nearby peaks and then Dome Mountain and the rest all the way down to Top Hat. Very nice.
The crazy clouds and hazy conditions made for difficult photos, but the point of hiking up is seeing it.
After a while up top, I started down. I was not in the mood for the rough ridgeline across the connected peaks, but that’s a good one as well. Looking down, I could see a couple groups at the saddle doing the loop. I did not see anyone else until I was near the trailhead and a couple more groups were heading out. Snowbirds and Holiday visitors a-plenty today for sure.
I will have to come up for another sunrise sometime. |
