| no partners | | This is a hike from a river trip up Saddle Canyon to a waterfall. At that point the canyon boxes up, and ordinary mortals can't go any further.. I'm told that canyoneers rappel down into this area, but that's the less-common way to get to it, (and I guess they aren't ordinary mortals!)
The GPS signal bounced all over. I worked with it a bit, tried to draw in the route, but as usual, I was only successful at drawing a straight line to where we went. On satellite, you can easily see the NPS-constructed trail which goes up and over. This is to bypass the now-impassable section at the bottom of the wash, where a big flashflood occurred just a few years ago, and blocked access via the creek bottom.
This river trip was given to me as a "perk" for working as a bus driver for the company, Arizona Raft Adventures (AzRA). It was my 8th GC river trip, but my first in a motorized raft. It was a wonderful trip. Don't go on a diet right before the trip, as you would miss out on some of the best food you've eaten in years. |
