| no partners | | I parked at the West parking lot and walked up the entrance ramp toward the ridge on the South side of Rock Corral Canyon. Wondered what the people on the interstate thought about seeing someone with a backpack headed up there.
Three shallow saddles and 4 fences later I was at Gasline Road. Chased a few coyotes along the way. I went about a third of a mile past this and dropped down into the canyon. It's crazy steep but it was easy to avoid the catclaw. When I got to the bottom I discovered that it wasn't the bottom. There is a 40+ foot cliff into a very narrow part of the canyon.
From here I followed a cow path that led to the riverbed. Odd thing was that I found cycle tire tracks on this path.
Headed back to the truck and enjoyed the view and shade of the cliffs. State police met me at the truck and then drove away.
I'll go back and see where the tracks went when it gets cooler.
A fun morning trek. |
